In 2015, when my life took a radical shift into becoming a painter, I also started to see everything around me change as well.

Colors, lines, shapes, textures, and patterns all came alive to a degree and depth that beforehand had gone unnoticed or perhaps lay dormant. This lens through which I now saw the world around me became the “new normal”.

This artwork was inspired by a photograph I had taken years earlier: a portrait of a young woman, her legs and arms folded, seated by a window.

The shape of her hair, body attitude, and pose all just turned into color blocks before my eyes, separated by black and white lines which serve as their definition. This was also one of my earliest paintings, hence the signature as my name and not yet the revolving circle, which would soon become so.
